FAQ

Some Common Questions:

If you have any concerns or questions; here are some answers to some of the most frequently asked questions

Why do I get corns?

Corns are our body's way of protecting us from harm. A corn is from direct pressure on a part of the foot that is causing pain so our brain sends signals to the skin to produce more cells and at a faster rate to protect that area, thus creating a corn.

Is it important for someone with diabetes to have their feet checked regularly?

Yes, Diabetes can cause a condition called neuropathy, this causes the foot or parts of the foot to become numb, therefore you may not realise you've cut your foot or have a bad blister etc, this leaves you open for an infection which could result in amputation.

How do you get rid of verrucas?

Unfortunately there isn't any quick fix for verrucas, if you've been told otherwise, they've lied to you! It is a virus that causes verrucas. A foot care practitioner can help with a treatment and a plan going forward to help your body fight the virus and hopefully eliminate it. It's important to remember that verrucas can hang around for weeks, months, or even years with some people.

Can a bunion be fixed?

The only way a bunion can be 'fixed' is to have surgery but even then, if you have a family history of bunions, it could come back. You can use orthotics to help align the toe and alleviate the pain it causes.
